In observance of Memorial Day, members of the Military-Veterans Employee Resource Group gathered alongside veterans, active-duty service members, community members, and local elected officials on Monday, May 26, for a wreath laying ceremony at the historic Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in Riverside Park in Manhattan.

Hosted by the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Association, the ceremony honored those who lost their lives in military service and recognized the enduring impact of their sacrifice on generations of Americans. Through shared reflection and community remembrance, the event served as a tribute to the values of service, sacrifice, and unity.

Memorial Day serves as a reminder that honoring military service means not only remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice but also supporting the communities they helped protect.

As Mount Sinai continues to advance health equity, the organization recognizes that veterans may face unique challenges and barriers to care, making equitable access to health care an essential component of improving health outcomes.

By participating in and supporting initiatives such as the wreath laying ceremony, the Military-Veterans Resource Group and Mount Sinai’s Office for Health Data, Outcomes, and Engagement Strategy help foster an inclusive environment where veterans, service members, and their families feel supported, valued, and connected.
