Nine volunteers from the Mount Sinai Health System were among 91 individuals who were honored at the United Hospital Fund’s 21st Annual Auxilian and Volunteer Achievement Awards ceremony held at the Waldorf-Astoria on Friday, March 14. The event recognized outstanding volunteers in not-for-profit and city-run hospitals in the New York metropolitan area.
Among those recognized was Mrs. Maxine Rosenberg, who has volunteered at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Brooklyn for seven years, greeting patient families, directing them to patient rooms, and helping them with transportation services.
Mrs. Rosenberg began volunteering after having sustained a serious spinal injury as a result of a fall in her home, a condition that still causes considerable pain and requires her to use a walker. She has served nearly 2,000 hours. “Volunteers like Mrs. Rosenberg are valuable assets to our hospital,” says Lin H. Mo, President, Mount Sinai Beth Israel Brooklyn. “She and other volunteers help support the entire hospital staff’s efforts to provide the highest quality of patient care and to assist in making visitors welcome.”
