The Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center (MSAHC) recently honored six individuals, as well as staff from its School-Based Health Centers program, for their commitment to the young people of New York City at the twelfth annual “Breakfast of Legends” benefit at The Plaza. The MSAHC is one of the largest high-quality, comprehensive, free, health and wellness centers for young people in the United States. Annually, it serves more than 10,000 youth and young adults, 10 to 24 years of age. It is also one of the nation’s leading centers for adolescent training and research. (more…)

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) recently honored David Muller, MD, Dean of Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, with the 2015 Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award for his outstanding work in educating “compassionate, well-rounded, twenty-first century physicians.”
The AAMC and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society cited Dr. Muller’s long-standing commitment to medical education, and his emphasis on encouraging students to have a strong foundation in the humanities and science. (more…)

Before a celebratory audience of staff, family, and friends, four physicians at The Mount Sinai Hospital were recognized by Nursing leadership and nurse colleagues with the 28th Annual Physician of the Year Award at a ceremony held Thursday, November 5, at Hatch Auditorium. On the day of the New York Mets’ first home game of the 2015 World Series, current and former Major League Baseball players, officials, and Mets mascots visited Kravis Children’s Hospital at Mount Sinai and its interactive play area, The Child Life Zone, for an afternoon of fun-filled activities.
Pediatric patients from the Blau Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disease, and The Tisch Cancer Institute at the Mount Sinai Health System, made their own stuffed bears and worked on baseball-related arts-and-crafts projects. (more…)

Signage for Mount Sinai West will be phased in over the coming months.
Mount Sinai Roosevelt is being renamed Mount Sinai West, an effort that reflects a long-term brand strategy to create a consistent naming convention within the Mount Sinai Health System.
“Many of the facilities in the Health System start with ‘Mount Sinai’ followed by a geographic or service-line identifier,” says Kenneth L. Davis, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mount Sinai Health System. “As with the recent naming of Mount Sinai Brooklyn, we want anyone who has a health care need to know that there is a Mount Sinai facility in their neighborhood with equivalent quality, and to choose the facility that will best serve them. Mount Sinai West will continue to be the premier provider of health care services on the West Side of Manhattan.” No changes in current services, insurance acceptance, or employment are planned as a result of the renaming.
