I’m really impressed with the great work happening in our addiction treatment programs on floors 3, 5, and 6 of the Bernstein Pavilion. The staff provides excellent care to patients and an invaluable service to our community.

In the past several months I’ve spent a lot of time rounding on 3B, 5B, and 6B, and hearing from staff about what they need to take care of their patients. We are adding PA positions, recruiting nurses, and purchasing much-needed equipment that the staff has requested.
Over the next two years, each of the behavioral health and chemical dependency inpatient units in Bernstein will get cosmetic makeovers, and those will eventually be followed by full-scale renovations. This is part of the long-term plan to transform Bernstein into the flagship hospital for behavioral health for the Mount Sinai Health System and the entire region.
The detox unit on 5B is often the important first step for patients. Our detox team helps patients address their physical addiction and stabilize them for the next step of treatment.
On 3B, patients can continue their inpatient care with our rehab team, providing them with a healthy foundation for long-term addiction management.
Our outpatient department on 6B is growing. Patients in this program receive structured care aimed at long-term addiction management.
